Breathwork helps us to upgrade the software in our nervous systems
Hi, I am Ryan Williams. My life is divided into two life spans: Before Nervous System Regulation (NSR), and After Nervous System Regulation (NSR). I write about nervous system regulation, social media, and the healing arts industry. I'm grateful for you and this community.
A big thanks to all the people that came out on Friday night to the Breathwork with Ryan launch party! On January 6th, we had a full moon Breathwork session, under the stars in West L.A.
Hosting it in a courtyard, outdoors, in an enclosed space was incredibly fun. We played music, laid on our backs, while I led a Breathwork session.
I taught a combo of both Breathwork with a deep relaxation meditation. Afterwards breathers went into chill mode. At 7:30 pm when it was time to go, I had to remind them it was dinner and the experience was over. I was also hungry. 🙂
If you aren’t local, I will be teaching a few Breathwork classes online on my podcast Breathwork with Ryan. The podcast trailer is up, if you would like to learn more, give it a listen, and please subscribe. You can follow the Breathwork with Ryan podcast on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, or anywhere else you listen to podcasts.
The podcast will feature classes around Breathwork and conversations with guests from the music, comedy, nature, health, fitness, and healing arts communities.
And you live in Southern California, you’re invited to the next Breathwork with Ryan full Moon outdoor class on Feb. 5th!
RSVP to Full Moon Breathwork here on Feb. 5th (Sunday) at 6:30 pm in West LA!

In 2019, I burned out on working in the influencer, creator, and social media economies. The business of social media influencers wore me out.
To help rejuvenate, taking Breathwork meditation classes seemed like a good idea. I loved the experience of breathing in a new way.
After starting to teach virtual group Breathwork during the early pandemic, I am thrilled to now bring my work to people both in person and online.
Breathwork helps us to upgrade the software in our nervous systems
You may be asking yourself, “Ryan, why should I practice Breathwork with you? I already breathe.”
According to Cell Press, a publication that partners with journalists to help inspire new research, “daily 5-minute Breathwork and mindfulness meditation improve[s] mood and reduce[s] anxiety.”
Meanwhile this study states that: “Breathing practices reported increased feelings of peacefulness, improved reaction time and problem solving, decreased anxiety, and reduction of mind wandering and intrusive thoughts.”
In other words, Breathwork helps to calm our nervous system, getting us out of fight or flight, or fear mode. Breathwork gets into a rest and digest mode, which helps us to heal our mental, physical and emotional aches.
In a COVID-19 world, we need a new tool kit to help us relax, calm down, and chill-out. And let’s get serious for a moment, many of us struggle to get access to healthcare. Our country must evolve into a guaranteed healthcare system, like Australia, Canada, England, and most modern democracies.
Breathwork is healthcare. We have to learn to take care of ourselves, and help one another to regulate our bodies.
Breathwork greatly helps us to upgrade the software in our nervous systems.
As always feel free to respond, I’d love to hear from you.
Coming to you from unsettled and stolen Tonga land.
Much Love,
Ryan
